History of Aston Martin Cars
Aston Martin cars have a long history that dates back to the founding of the company back in 1913.
Although the original creators of these cars already built their first car in 1915, nothing else was done until 1920 due to World War I when both founders joined the armed forces. The first cars produced by the company were finished in 1922 and were actually racing cars that took part in the French Grand Prix. These cars were record breaking, but nonetheless the company went bankrupt in 1924 and once again in 1926 when it was actually closed down. However, new investors took interest in these cars and company and it was officially reopened under the name Aston Martin Motors.
From then until 1936 most of the Aston Martin cars made were known under the name Bertelli, but during this year production went from racing cars to road cars. Only 700 Aston Martin cars were manufactured before World War II started and production stopped again. Only after the war was production once again possible, but it took years before things got going again.
Since then Aston Martin cars have been further developed and the real start came with the DB models which started back in the 1950s. The DB4 and DB5 were the key models that gave Aston Martin a good name and reputation as grand touring cars and since then this style has been maintained.
